Nic Cassey "False Pretenses"
Nic Cassey released his first single "False Pretenses," from his forthcoming album The Captain, on 22 June.
Having already recorded two studio albums with a traditional band format, Nic Cassey dives into his third record with the intention to create a lo-fi bedroom record, one that comes straight from the heart. "False Pretenses," the debut single, draws on inspiration from the phrase itself.
"I found a nice box to put some ideas together for a song. I like going on adventures into nature, stumbling upon abandoned houses is always cool, and I imagined a story of two friends getting out of town and doing something like that.
I weaved the sound of a crackling fire that I recorded outside, and used my breathing sounds in the bridge to create a feeling of the physical experience of walking through nature."
Steph Hughes (JJJ) - "a beautiful mix of great song writing and lush layers"
